Who We Are
Homes of Hope is a volunteer-led program run by the St. Joseph County Family Justice Center. Members of the community identified a need for housing for those who are in abusive relationships but who do not qualify for housing in a traditional shelter. With the help of volunteers and generous donors, a home was identified, remodeled, furnished, and the Homes of Hope vision was realized!
No one should ever feel trapped in an abusive home. But, family members are sometimes separated when they decide to leave an unhealthy relationship. We want survivors to know they have support in their community.
Financial dependence, including shelter, is one of the biggest reasons many victims report staying with their abuser. Homes of Hope provides:
-A single-family home
-Security system monitored by ADT
-Income-based rental payments
-An opportunity for home ownership in the future
Support Homes of Hope by:
-Volunteering to work on the next house
-Donating new or gently used appliances, furniture, or fixtures for a house
-Donating new linens or clothing
-Donating supplies for a welcome basket for the new residents
-Donating financial support for the upkeep of the house
-Sharing the story of Homes for Hope
